The vision of PAfID is to contribute towards an inclusive society where opportunities to participate in the cultural, social, and economic environment are open for all.
Mission
PAfID’s mission is to contribute to a world in which all persons in society live with dignity and respect. A world, in which they are able to fully and equally access and exercise their rights and potential. To reach this, persons with disabilities and the most marginalized and vulnerable people are at the center of our work.
Approach
Our expertise is in disability inclusion and inclusive development. We work towards strengthening and supporting capacity of relevant actors for example OPDs, NGOs, Government, private sector and communities at grassroot and national level. We also work directly with some of the most vulnerable groups, such as persons with disabilities, to ensure that they can access their rights and potential.
Our key values are:
- Empowering marginalized groups such as persons with disabilities to take development into their own hands.
- Striving to overcome all barriers in society and create a safe and acceptable environment for all.
- Ensuring the emphasis on women and girls, whose exclusion leads to underlying causes of poverty and unequal development.
- Enabling people’s action for their own change.
We are guided by our core values of care, responsiveness, quality, collaboration, and accountability.
Throughout our work, we have learnt that actors in the field of development need to go through organizational and systematic processes of change within their programs to move towards sustainable (disability) inclusion. We support these processes at community, organizational and governmental level. We work in participatory ways adhering to national efforts and in alignment with international frameworks such as the United Nations Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (UNCRPD), and contributing to the fulfillment of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in order to Leave No One Behind.
People’s Action for Inclusive Development (PAfID) was formerly known as Light for the World Cambodia. After 20 years of working through partners, we established an office in Wat Sarawan, a pagoda in the center of Phnom Penh, Cambodia in 2016.
