Leng Bunchhay is an 8-year-old student in Grade 3 at Tropang Ropov Primary School in Krong Bokor, Kampot province. He lives with his family of seven, including his grandparents, parents, and two siblings. Despite facing difficulty with his vision, Bunchhay is a bright, active boy who enjoys school and helping with chores at home.
His visual impairment made daily life and learning more challenging, especially at school.

“I couldn’t see well, but I still tried to help around the house.”
Over time, his family looked for help for his condition. He remembers traveling to Phnom Penh once for an eye check, and more recently, receiving another exam near his school where he was asked to identify the direction of the letter E. After that, he received a pair of spectacles, a simple but life-changing resource.
Thanks to the inclusive education project, Bunchhay now sits in the front row of his classroom, where he can clearly see the blackboard.
Bunchhay shines in mathematics, often earning high scores. He dreams of one day becoming both a teacher and a businessman, just like his parents.

“My teacher explains things to me when I don’t understand and my classmates are kind to me. They always let me join their games.”
